HYDERABAD: On a day when three of the seven IT employees, who approached the labour department citing illegal lay-offs, were recalled by Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) but another IT company Tech Mahindra, however, went ahead and sacked seven of its employees after they agreed to give in.

“Of the eight Tech Mahindra employees who approached the labour department, only one case has been accepted. The other seven have decided to resign after talks with their employer,” said R Chandrasekaram, joint labour commissioner, Rangareddy district, on Friday.

Earlier this month, seven employees of CTS pressed their plea with the state labour department over allegations of ‘illegal layoffs’. The joint commissioner clarified that the issue had been resolved through discussions as pink slips issued to four employees could not be revoked as they had voluntarily resigned and other three employees were recalled.

It was on May 9 that seven employees of CTS, along with representatives of Forum For IT Employees (FITE), had approached the labour department with a petition on the issue of illegal termination of
employees.
