HYDERABAD:  Just hours before its proposed Praja Chaitanya Yatra, which is supposed to be a show of unity among party leaders apart from exposing the TRS government’s misrule, groupism in the Congress came to the fore once again on Sunday. Two leaders, former MP V Hanumantha Rao and Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav, had heated arguments over the matter of taking the advice of senior leaders while chalking out programmes of the party’s frontal organisations like the Youth Congress.

Trouble started when Hanumantha Rao took objection to the Youth Congress organising Atmeeya Sammelan of former NSUI and Youth Congress leaders without taking advice of senior leaders. When Anil Kumar retorted, a war of words ensued between the two groups. The TPCC’s Praja Chaitanya Yatra will kick off on Monday with leaders organising prayers at a temple, masjid and church on their way to Chevella where a public meeting will be held. Sources in the party said the show of unity might not long last as several leaders might not participate in the entire  yatra.

“A section of leaders, particularly those who joined the party along with Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy, are not happy as they have no major role to play in the yatra and they have not been given any party positions till now,’’ a source said. “All the leaders will be present on the first day but as the yatra goes on, there will be more people getting off the bus than those boarding it,’’ a leader quipped.

Former TDP leader Feroze Khan will join the Congress before the commencement of the yatra.
