HYDERABAD: The Telangana government on Monday told the Hyderabad High Court that it has issued an Ordinance on the issue of appointing a chairman to the farmer debt relief commission, by making an amendment to the “TS Commission for Debt Relief Small Farmers Agricultural Labourers and Rural Artisans Act 2016”.

Special counsel to Telangana Sharat Kumar placed a copy of the order before the bench of Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice J Uma Devi dealing with contempt case filed by BJP senior leader N Indrasena Reddy against the Telangana government for its failure to constitute the above commission within three months.

The special counsel said that the order was meant to facilitate appointing a ‘noted person’ having experience in the field of agriculture, finance and law for the chairman post. He sought some more time for appointing a chairman to the commission. Taking these submissions into consideration, the bench adjourned the case by one week.
