HYDERABAD: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Saturday said that the TRS was fighting for Telangana’s rightful share in Krishna waters before Brijesh Kumar Tribunal, but the Opposition parties were not protecting the interests of the State.

Speaking at a meeting on Saturday at Ravindra Bharathi after launching the book titled ‘Telangana Jala Kavitotsavam’, a collection of poems on irrigation projects and water resources in the State, Harish Rao complimented Telangana Language and Culture department for bringing out the book.

State Planning Board vice-chairman S Niranjan Reddy, Sahitya Akademi president Nandini Sidha Reddy, poet Desapati Srinivas and Language and Culture department director Mamidi Harikrishna were also present.

Harish Rao recalled that the Telangana government provided irrigation water to eight lakh acres in Mahbubnagar district.  “However, the Opposition leaders are unable to witness the development. AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu wrote letters to the Centre that TS used excess water in Krishna river. But, TS has been fighting for its rightful share in Krishna waters,” he said. With the completion of the irrigation projects, the purpose of achieving Telangana was being fulfilled, he said.
