HYDERABAD: BJP Deputy Floor Leader Payal Shankar alleged that the state’s financial system has collapsed and governance deteriorated under Congress rule.

Addressing a press conference at the state BJP office here on Tuesday, he claimed that members raising questions in the Assembly were met with ridicule and counterattacks instead of answers.

Shankar demanded the disqualification of those who allegedly disrespected the ‘Vande Mataram’ song, accusing the Congress of undermining the Constitution by appointing such individuals as panel speakers.

The Adilabad MLA alleged that the state was surviving on daily borrowings, reflecting a severe financial crisis. Citing CAG figures, he said that the government was failing to spend funds as outlined in the Budget.

He further alleged that money was being diverted to fund elections in other states, claiming that the Congress high command was using the Telangana unit as an ATM.

Shankar said that while the Congress had made allegations of corruption against the BRS, it had failed to act on them. He alleged that the party high command from Delhi was controlling the state Congress, allowing the BRS to influence its functioning.
