Warangal ACB uncovers cash, gold in raids on sub-registrar offices in Telangana

The ACB said several other irregularities were noticed during the surprise check and added that a detailed report would be submitted to the government for further action.

HANAMKONDA: A surprise check by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Warangal and Hanamkonda districts has uncovered cash, gold, suspected financial irregularities and the presence of unauthorised agents at sub-registrar offices, officials said on Friday.

During the inspections, ACB officials found 20 unauthorised agents and document writers inside the offices. They also seized unaccounted cash of Rs 47,450 along with 70 unregistered documents, according to Warangal Range ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police P. Sambaiah.

Verification of mobile phones belonging to document writers revealed WhatsApp chats with Sub-Registrar Officer-I Jamalapuram Ramanasimha Rao and Sub-Registrar Officer-II Davuluri Anand, indicating PhonePe transactions amounting to approximately Rs 42,03,125 over the past year.

Officials also found 204 undelivered registered documents in the possession of the sub-registrar officers.

Simultaneous searches at the residences of the two officers led to the recovery of Rs 24,61,540 in cash, 819.500 grams of gold ornaments, 2.600 kilograms of silver ornaments, and fixed deposits worth Rs 30,10,000 at Kapil Chits from the house of SRO-II Davuluri Anand.
