KCR must respond to Kavitha’s allegations: CM Revanth

He further alleged that the Kalvakuntla family had lost touch with the public and was facing internal disputes.

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday demanded that BRS president and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao respond to the allegations and questions raised by his daughter, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, during the launch of her political party, Telangana Rashtra Sena.

Reacting to Kavitha’s new party, the chief minister questioned its relevance. “What is the need for forming a new party? The real issue is whether the existing party (BRS) will survive or fade away. Every party is formed with a purpose, and once that purpose is fulfilled, it becomes history. The party founded by KCR has already served its purpose,” he said.

Describing the BRS as a “lifeless entity,” he added, “Will a dead body come alive if it is decorated well? The expiry date of the BRS is over.”

Alleging that the BJP and the BRS were working together, he claimed that the two parties had even contested together in Lok Sabha and local body elections. He challenged KCR to swear before God that he was not in touch with BJP leaders. He predicted that Telangana politics would eventually witness a direct contest between a Congress alliance and a BRS-BJP front.

During an informal interaction with reporters, Revanth said that while the BRS had a past, it had no future. He accused the party leadership of arrogance and misuse of power during its 10-year rule, adding that people tolerated it for a while but eventually voted it out.

He further alleged that the Kalvakuntla family had lost touch with the public and was facing internal disputes. Drawing historical parallels, he said power struggles within families were not uncommon, but clarified that KCR was his political opponent and not a personal enemy.

The chief minister also claimed that there had been internal discussions within the BRS during KCR’s tenure about appointing KT Rama Rao as chief minister. He alleged that negative sentiments towards KCR existed within his own family and said the BRS chief must address such issues himself. “KCR is a retired political leader. Defeat is not new to him, just as victory is not new to the Congress. He should take rest at his farmhouse,” he said.

On the Kaleshwaram project, Revanth reiterated that the state government would continue to press the Centre for a CBI probe into alleged irregularities. He said he, along with Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, would soon meet the CBI Director. “Once the CBI seeks details, the Irrigation Department will share all relevant information,” he added.

He also recalled that Union Minister G Kishan Reddy had earlier claimed that arrests could be made within 48 hours if the probe was handed over to the agency.

Referring to court proceedings, he said the high court had not given a clean chit to BRS leaders. He explained that petitions filed by KCR and T Harish Rao sought quashing of the Justice PC Ghose Commission report, but the court allowed the report to continue. “The court pointed out certain procedural lapses but did not strike down the report,” he said, adding that no action should be taken solely based on the commission’s findings.
