HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), in association with Indian Bank and Niva Bupa Health Insurance, has facilitated India’s first-ever Rs 20 lakh insurance claim settlement under the Sehat Suraksha Policy. The settlement marks a significant milestone in extending social security benefits to vulnerable sections and demonstrates the effectiveness of collaboration between civic bodies, financial institutions and insurance providers.
The claim was settled in favour of Babburi Madhavi, wife of Babburi Raju, a street vendor and Self-Help Group (SHG) member who died in a road accident. Raju was covered under the Sehat Suraksha Policy through an SHG loan extended by Indian Bank’s Microstate Branch in Hyderabad.
The claim cheque was presented to Madhavi on Tuesday in the presence of CMC Additional Commissioner (Urban Community Development) VVL Subhadra Devi, along with officials of CMC, Indian Bank, Niva Bupa Health Insurance and SHG members.
CMC officials said the initiative highlights the importance of insurance coverage for SHG members and reaffirms the corporation’s commitment to promoting financial inclusion, social security and the welfare of economically vulnerable families.
