CM Revanth invites Oxford representatives to bring their expertise to Hyderabad

Telangana CM discussed the state’s global education vision with Oxford professors and invited the varsity to set up a centre in Hyderabad.

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who is leading the Telangana Rising delegation, visited the 900-year-old Oxford University on Friday and invited the varsity representatives to send a team to the Global Summit to be held in Hyderabad from December 7.

The chief minister held talks with Prof Maya Tudor of Blavatnik School of Government and Prof Faisal Devji of Balliol College. During the meeting, the chief minister spoke about the Telangana Rising vision and the state’s plans to transform Hyderabad into a global education hub. He also invited the varsity representatives to bring their executive education programmes, specialised research capabilities and rich ecosystem to set up a centre in the city.

State government advisor K Ramakrishna Rao made a detailed presentation on the opportunities available to foreign universities as part of the Central government’s National Education Policy, with emphasis on advantages they would have in Hyderabad and Telangana.

Later, the chief minister visited Somerville College where a portrait of former prime minister and alumna Indira Gandhi is on display. The portrait was gifted to the college by Sonia Gandhi in 2002.

He also visited the Utilita Bowl run by the GMR Group, along with Kiran Kumar Grandhi, corporate chairman of the group. The integrated sporting facility includes a golf course, other sporting infrastructure and a hotel.

The chief minister held discussions with the GMR global sports unit and invited them to invest and contribute to creating world-class sporting infrastructure in Telangana.
