HYDERABAD: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Disciplinary Committee is likely to recommend action against Minister Konda Surekha over her daughter’s comments and against Planning Board vice-chairman G Chinna Reddy over his recent remarks.
Sources said the panel has already submitted a preliminary report and is expected to send its detailed findings to TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud and AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan on Tuesday.
The report has now set off speculation within the party over what comes next. Sources said suspension is among the possible actions, while in Surekha’s case, the bigger question is whether she could also lose her Cabinet berth.
The panel, sources said, was not satisfied with Surekha’s explanation and felt she should have condemned or distanced herself from her daughter’s remarks.

The committee felt that, as a senior party leader and minister, Surekha should have immediately condemned the remarks or distanced herself from the allegations. That expectation, sources said, became central to the panel’s recommendation, with her failure to do so being viewed as a serious disciplinary issue.
Chinna Reddy, meanwhile, has found himself caught in the same disciplinary storm. Sources said the panel found his public comments to be against the party line, despite his familiarity with the Congress ideology and his earlier stint as chairman of the TPCC Disciplinary Committee.
His reply to the notice also reportedly failed to satisfy the committee. Sources said Chinna Reddy had intended to raise the problems faced by party leaders in their constituencies with the TPCC president and AICC in-charge. But instead of taking the matter up with the party leadership, he went public with remarks against a sitting MLA, a move the panel viewed as a breach of party discipline.
The panel has also laid down a broader message: objectionable or false remarks against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the state government or the Congress party cannot be allowed to go unchecked and should invite disciplinary action. With the report now headed to the party leadership, the ball is in the high command’s court and its next move could set the tone for discipline within the Telangana Congress.
