NAGARKURNOOL : A government Telugu teacher, Vedartham Madhusudan Sharma, spent months together to gather the details of poets who hailed from the Kollapur area and brought out a book, Kollapur Saahiti Vaibhavam (Kollapur Literary Glory), which throws light on 150 poets. He wrote about them almost covering 400 years of literary history from the 15th century to the most recent times.

Through his book, Madhusudan Sharma, a poet and teacher at the Pentlavelli Zilla Parishad High School, has brought to light the great literary tradition of Kollapur spanning over 400 years. He wrote books  Sahitimutyalu and Samalokanam highlighting the importance of Krishna Pushkaralu. He has floated an organisation, Telugu Bharati —Mana Sahitya Vedika, and felicitates writers and poets every year. He has won several awards for promoting the Telugu language. The state government’s award, the Gurajada Foundation’s award and the Telugu Sahiti Peetham award are a few of those.

Sharma hails from Emambetla village in Kollapur mandal in Nagarkurnool district. He got the opportunity of taking part in the ongoing Kavi Sammelanams in Hyderabad as part of Telugu Mahasabhalu.
Meanwhile, Nagalingam Siva Yogi, a yoga teacher, of Jadcherla, has been honoured posthumously by the state government, which erected a thoranam (arch) in his name at Himayatnagar here on the occasion of the Mahasabhalu. Nagalingam, who died six years ago, discovered some talapatra granthalu (plam-leaf inscriptions) which threw light on the lives of some ancient poets in Telugu language.
