NALGONDA : The long-term desire of Nalgonda people to have a medical college in the district is going to become a reality soon. On the representation of Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukhendar Reddy about sanctioning a Medical College, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao promised positively.

The proposal for medical college came up during Congress rule itself but due to the general negligence towards Telangana districts, the proposal did not materialise.

Recently, district headquarters hospital was upgraded to 560 beds. Now, the hospital has 250 beds and the government added another 160 beds and set up 150-bed Mother and Child Hospital. After the upgradation the government sanctioned a new building for additional beds also.

The new building will be completed before March 30. The MP is planning to invite the chief minister to inaugurate the new hospital building in April later this year.

Over 500-bed hospital is necessary for setting up a medical college and now the district hospital has fulfilled the requirement.
