Your best can never match up to their best. Known for their caustic comments and uncomfortable body grabs, international make-over experts Trinny and Susannah have standards higher than what you can imagine in a million light years. After having ‘rescued’ (the term they love most and use often on their show) they have come to India to stop women from committing fashion disasters. “People here could really do with some help. I mean, we were just talking to this photographer upstairs and he was so badly stuck in the Eighties. Poor thing really needed advice on what not to wear,” says Trinny.
Premiering on August 12, Trinny and Sussannah’s Makeover Mission India will be telecast on TLC, where the pair will walk the streets looking for young men and women of all shapes and sizes, in hope of giving them a new look. ‘‘People across the world have similar emotional issues. Some in turn, have lost their confidence. We want to open up the world to them once again,” says Susannah, adding, “We observed that Indians do a brilliant job with wearing Indian clothing but when it comes to Western wear, it is a different story altogether. Men, particularly, seem to be stuck in the phase they had their first sexual experience. They tend to dress in accordance to that age and time, to somehow try and retain their youth and vitality.”
In their show, the duo assist people with fashion and style advice as they believe that one’s appearance positively impacts one’s overall personality in the long run. “Since we started, we have always tried to give people emotional makeovers though the clothes we suggest they wear. We want women to come out of the rut they are stuck in. Indian culture, at the moment, is a fairly alien culture to the both of us and we have a long way to go before we completely understand it but in the meanwhile, maybe you could help us with that and we could help you get a new look,” says Trinny.
