We knew Minu Bakshi as a poet and a singer but never knew that she’s a linguist until she was conferred the prestigious Spanish Award, the Order of Queen Isabella, by the Spanish government. Bakshi has been working as a professor of Spanish language at the Jawahar Lal Nehru University for the past 35 years. The Ambassador of Spain to India, HE Gustavo de Arístegui, honoured the professor and conferred on her the illustrious Order of Queen Isabella at the Embassy of Spain. The event saw in attendance crème de la crème of the capital city like Sharmila Tagore, Muzaffar and Meera Ali, Jayasri Burman and Paresh Maity, Ritu Beri, Shirin Paul, to name a few.

Bakshi will be felicitated on September 28 by Delhi’s LG Najeeb Jung for her award-winning book, Tishnagi on Urdu Poetry, at the 13th festival of Sufi music, “Sufi Darbar”, organised by the Husan Ara Trust.
