Friday was a big day for movie buffs as two eagerly awaited movies of the year,  Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale, hit the screens. Designer Anju Modi hosted a special screening of Bajirao Mastani at PVR Saket as she designed the costumes for the period film. This is Modi’s second project as costume designer for Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Earlier she did Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela.

The preview saw fashion designers enjoying the movie and costumes. We had veterans like Ritu Kumar, David Abraham, Rakesh Thakore, Payal Jain and FDCI president Sunil Sethi with wife Bharti and daughter Taanira. Surprise spotting was cricketer Gautam Gambhir. Also seen were Rekha Poorie and Mohini Bapparao.

Sharing her experience of working with Bhansali, Modi said, “Sanjay Leela is all about details and goes into history to get it right. In Bajirao Mastani, there is just one photograph available of Mastani and from that we had to create the look of the character and of the period.” She also added, “Ram-Leela made me delve into costumes of Gujarat and Bajirao Mastani took me back in time of Marathas.”
