NEW DELHI: The odd-even formula has not gone down well with pet lovers. The Delhi government has exempted patients facing medical emergencies but those taking their sick pets to veterinary doctors and hospitals are being challaned. On January 4, Deepak Sharma argued with traffic policemen at the Yamuna Vihar traffic intersection for being challaned for taking his severely sick dog to a vet in his odd number car on an even number date. Despite the pet having medical documents, the police challaned him. Special Commissioner of Police Muktesh Chander said, “Nowhere in the Delhi government notification is any mention about animals.” Geeta Seshamani co-founder, Friendicoes said, “The course of treatment does not depend on the odd-even policy. If the pet is sick and injured will the authorities allow us to use the public transport?”
