AIADMK power tussle: OPS wins legal battle in Madras HC, major setback for EPS

In a major setback for AIADMK leader E Palaniswami, the Madras High Court ruled that his appointment as the party's general secretary is not valid. It also reinstated former Tamil Nadu chief minister O Panneerselvam as the coordinator of the AIADMK. On the issue of party leadership, the court has now ordered a status quo as on June 23. Justice G Jayachandran made it clear that the general council meeting can only be convened jointly by the coordinator and joint coordinator of the party. Hence, the general council meeting that happened on July 11, in which Edappadi K Palaniswami was made the interim general secretary, stands invalid.
