Indian student returns home for treatment: Is Canada's health system failing?

20-year-old Ananth Krishna from Kerala went to Canada for higher studies. But he flew back to Kochi recently because of a medical emergency. The reason: He didn’t get proper medical care for the months-long lung infection and complicated pneumonia in Canada.

Krishna, who hails from Alappuzha in the southern Kerala district of Alapppuzha, underwent a surgery at a private hospital the day after his return. The good news is that he is recovering well at the hospital now.

Canada’s healthcare system has been under spotlight ever since the death of an India-origin man in December last year.
