VIJAYAWADA: MPs from both the ruling TDP and opposition YSRC have raised Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) disinvestment issue in Parliament, demanding the Centre to desist from selling majority equity in the Category I ‘mini ratna’ company with headquarters in Visakhapatnam.Earlier, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan took to twitter and appealed the MPs from AP to submit a representation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi against the privatisation plan of the DCI.
The actor-turned-politician wanted the MPs to take cue from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, who had appealed the PM not to privatise Salem Steel Plant though it is making losses. “If Tamil Nadu leaders could stand by their people for a similar issue and I wonder what prevents the AP leaders to do the same?,’’ he tweeted.
“On the political periphery of AP, DCI privatisation might look trivial to New Delhi, but with the background of haphazard bifurcation process and denial of constitutionally promised special category status, who knows how things might turn,’’ Pawan Kalyan said in another tweet. “The time has come to put an end to personal and party centric politics and we have to bring back accountability in politics and if not, the younger and future generations will pay a hefty price irrespective of caste, creed, region and religion,’’ the actor-politician tweeted.
