NEW DELHI: In a fresh controversy brewing between the two neighbours,  an Indian woman has "taken refuge" in the Indian Embassy in Islamabad amidst allegations of illegal detention by a Pakistani man she is reportedly married to.

According to sources in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) : "A young Indian woman has sought the help of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad on May 5."  The High Commission is providing necessary consular assistance to her and is in touch with the Pakistan Foreign Office on the matter and the girl's family in India.

Dr Uzma,  an Indian citizen,  came to Pakistan on May 1 via Wagah border. The Pakistan media has reported that she got married to one Tahir Ali on May 3 after which the couple had reportedly planned to go to New Delhi after marriage. Then following reference from her brother working at Indian high commission, she approached the Indian authorities.

Then detailing a filmy sequence,  the media said that she went to the Embassy on May 5 but did not return. And it further adds that when the husband inquired the high commission staff allegedly denied that any such woman has come to their office.
