Six killed in coal mine flooding in China

Eleven miners were trapped when the flooding occurred yesterday in a pit of Dongyu Coal Mine in Qingxu County near Taiyuan, capital of the coal-rich province.

BEIJING: Six miners were killed and five rescued today from a flooded coal mine in north China's Shanxi Province, authorities said.     

The rescue operation ended early this morning. The five survivors are receiving medical checkups and treatment, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
