How To Make Mod Podge at Home

Use this simple recipe to create your own pot of the wonder glue

BENGALURU: With the rise in popularity of crafts like decoupage and quilling among others, the demand for Mod Podge has also gone up. A store brought Mod Podge is not only expensive but also not readily available. For my crafting needs, I like to use homemade Mod Podge unless I am looking for a specific gloss or a matt finish.

Why do we need it?

A Mod Podge is applied on a piece of artwork to ensure it sticks properly. Multiple coats of it ensure that the artwork can be dusted and is water resistant to some extent.

If you want to use it on fabric, then just dilute the fabric glue. And for the final touch, depending on whether you want a matt or a gloss finish, use a concealer that gives you a matt or a gloss varnish.

Things you need

  •    White glue, for instance Fevicol
  •    Water (half the quantity of the glue)

How to

Step 1

Mix white glue and water. When it is mixed,  you have your Mod Podge. And to remove the stickiness, as the last coat,  use an acrylic varnish or sealer.
