BENGALURU: Schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Council for Secondary Education (ICSE) associations have decided  to go for self- regulation in the state.

Following the state government’s  decision to regulate schools in the state, by fixing fee and ensuring safety measures for children, the associations have jointly decided to  come up with their own regulatory mechanisms.

This was decided in the joint advisory board meeting held in the city on April 7.
Mansoor Ali Khan, one of  the  members  of the advisory board ,  said, “ W e would prefer  to  self-regulat e  and an official  mechanism on how to go about this will be released in 10 days.”

A major decision   taken in the meeting  was not to increase the fee beyond 8 - 10% in a year. “We have advised the schools to make better financial plans and not to increase unnecessarily,” he said.

When asked  about those who have already released the fee tariff, Khan said “Once we release  the  official mechanism,  parents can approach the advisory body if there are any issues.”

Over 200 school representatives were present  at the meet.
“We are sensitive to the needs of parents.

The fee should not be increased for the whims and fancies of the  managements. The decision will put a cap on all such moves and  bring relief among parents. We have decided not to increase fee by more than 10% every ye ar,” sa id   Dr Mohan Manghnani ,  president of ICSE  Schools Association.
