VISAKHAPATNAM: The world conference on mundane astrology conducted under the aegis of Sanathana Darma Charitable Trust (SDCT) at Platinum Jubilee Hall of Andhra University concluded here today.
The four-day brain-storming conference threw light on varied aspects of mundane astrology in detail. The host of speakers in the conference was a brilliant combination of western and Indian scholars besides traditional veterans in astrology. The papers presented included a wide range of topics such as Rahu/Satrun conjunctions, Yugas, the precessional degree and its conjunction with fixed stars in Yuga interpretation, mundane astrology and predictions for the mankind, glimmer of hope in a strife-torn world.
The erudite discussions in the seminars not only provided a valuable insight into the subject but also offered an array of perspectives in a systematic approach to it. While the expositions sparkled in academic brilliance, the prediction part of it was meagre as most of the scholars dwelt on the astrological dimensions of the past events. However, all discounted the doomsday prediction for 2012.
Sadguru K Sivanand Murthy in his closing remarks said while the debate over astrology as a science or art will continue, it will always remain beneficial for the mankind and is worthy of a serious study. While astrology is science, prediction is an art, he added. On the occasion, Sadguru presented a cash reward of Rs 50,000 to veteran astrologer Madhura Krishnamurty Sashtry to continue his research in the field.
Anakapalli MP Sabbam Hari, who was the chief guest, commended the efforts of the organiser in conducting first ever conference on mundane astrology on a grand scale in the city.
