CHITRADURGA: This goldsmith is a fan of cricket demi-god Sachin Tendulkar and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

He wants to offer samples of his art to them for their excellent performance in the 2011 World Cup.

N Sathyanarayanachar of Chitradurga has designed two replicas of ICC World Cup and a key chain worth Rs 30,000 to be gifted to the two cricketers. He told reporters on Friday that he wanted to gift the replicas to Tendulkar and Mahi during the World Cup final match to be held in Mumbai on Saturday.

“I am trying to contact the Karnataka State Cricket Association staff through journalists and if things work out, the gifts will be handed over to them on the D-Day. Or it will be forwarded to the players later,” he said.

“After India won the semifinal match against arch rival Pakistan, I thought of thanking the players through my art. The idea of designing a replica came up,” he said. While one replica each will be handed over to Sachin and Dhoni, the special gold key chain has been designed especially for Sachin, he said.

Each replica weighs two grams and costs Rs 5,000 while the key chain of the ICC logo weighs approximately 10 grams, costing Rs 20,000. Pure 22 carat gold has been used and it took only six hours to design the items.

Earlier, he had also made a 900 mg idol of lord Ganesh, which has been kept for public viewing at Manjusha museum in Dharmasthala, and he had forwarded the design with the name of former President Abdul Kalam inscribed on it to the Presidential secretariat.
