Proposed National Highway to reduce Hyderabad-Mantralayam distance

HYDERABAD: A 65-km-long new national highway will be built between Kothakota and Naguladinne villages in the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district, which will reduce the distance from Hyderabad to pilgrimage centre Mantralayam by 60 km. The roads and buildings department has prepared the detailed project report (DPR) and tenders will be called soon.

According to sources, a bridge on Krishna river will come up as part a Rs 500-crore new national highway project. “The bridge will be built around 7 km down the Jurala irrigation project,” officials said. Currently, pilgrims from Hyderaabd intending to visit Mantralayam will either go to Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh or Raichur in Karnataka from where they will reach Mantralayam. When the new highway is ready, there will be no need to touch Kurnool or Raichur. The new highway will start at Kothakota and pass through Atmakur, Jurala, Gadwal, Maldakal, Aiza before joining Naguladinne.

HMDA sanctions Rs 3.47 crore to 15 GPs within ORR

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) Metropolitan Commissioner T Chiranjeevulu asked the Gram Panchayat Raj secretaries to utilise the collected developmental and deferment charges funds judiciously for the all-round development of gram panchayats. On Monday, he handed over cheques of `3,47,80,642 to Panchayat Raj secretaries of 15 gram panchayats falling in the Growth Corridor radius of ORR. Speaking on the occasion, Chiranjeevulu said that in the four phases, a total of `10,03,98,589 was handed over to the gram panchayat secretaries.
