VISAKHAPATNAM: A few more facilities and amenities have been added to the VUDA Central Park which was opened in September last.
In an effort to attract the tourists, a panel carrying ‘I LOVE VIZAG’ in big and bold letters has been set up and the trials for the lighting effects have begun. The teenagers seem to be already enjoying by taking selfies and uploading their status as ‘My love, My city’. For the benefit of the visitors, a food court has also been set up along with a small beverage shop for snacks. “In an effort to keep the premises clean, dustbins have also been added. The use of plastic is being minimised and the snacks are being served on paper plates,” said Prasad, a VUDA official.
Yoga classes
Two teachers have been appointed to conduct yoga classes daily. The monthly fee is `400. Classes are held in the morning and evening, beginning 5.30 am and 5 pm respectively.
The bonsai garden spread over an acre has 120 varieties procured from across India and the world. “The staff are being trained to maintain it on a regular basis. We will be putting up a bonsai exhibition in the coming Visakha Utsav. A bonsai convention is being scheduled to be held in February,” said BVN Reddy, secretary of Visakha Bonsai Society.
Bhavesh K, a student, said: “Although the jogging tracks were open to public, spending some time inside the park is more rejuvenating. I love watching the musical fountain.” A maze is also being planned for children,” said another VUDA official.
