Railway platform ticket price doubled

Express News Service

VIJAYAWADA: In a bid to decongest the railway platforms and make free way for passengers alighting at Vijayawada Railway Station or getting on to the train to go to their respective destination during Dasara festival days, Railway authorities have decided to control the movement of non-passengers. The officials have increased the price of platform ticket from Rs 10 to  Rs 20 from October 5 (Wednesday) - 11 (Vijaya Dasami).
Speaking to Express, Vijayawada Railway Division Assistant Commercial Manager JVRK Rajasekhar said that it was purely for the purpose of decongestion.

“It is festival time and the rush is heavy. We need to facilitate easier movement for the passengers getting down from trains or boarding them. So, we decided to increase the platform ticket, assuming it would act as deterrent,” he said.
