VISAKHAPATNAM: Children gave vent to their creativity on colourful sheets with scissors at a two-day workshop conducted by the Pages, among the noted bookshops in the city, on Saturday.
Children in the age group of four to eight years were busy as they were taught to make bookmarks, pinwheels and stencil art in a simpler way, using smart tricks on the first day of the event. On the second day, the children between the ages of nine and 12 will be taught to make various crafts on myriads of themes.
Designed for two different age groups, the workshop was a fun time for the children. More than 25 children from the city got themselves registered for the event well in advance.
The children had a gala time and a learning experience as well as they learnt the smartest way of making monster paper corner bookmarks, stencil and punch art craft and pinwheels using craft paper, pins, straw or a thin stick.
“I never knew that making a pinwheel and bookmarks was so easy and crafting a pinwheel was what I enjoyed the most. I am going to try it at home for sure. Take a colour paper and cut it, fold it diagonally and stick it on a straw. The pinwheel is ready,” said Reyansh, a second grade in Timpany School, who is all smiles.
Anushree Nevatia of the Pages said that the registration was opened a week ago and closed on Friday. No spot registrations were accepted as they had to arrange the craft material in advance.
For the kids coming on the second day, she said, children will learn to prepare bookmarks of various shapes like Superman, Captain America, Angry Birds and a few others. Besides, they will be taught abstract painting, origami, mini book and a few other forms of paintings.
“We are planning to conduct a few more events for children. During the registration, many parents requested us to organise book reading sessions. So, we are considering to conduct the same,” Anushree added.
