National symposium on smart cities on May 5

VIJAYAWADA: Institute of Taxation & Accounting Professionals (iTAP) in association with Efftronics will organise a two-day national symposium on ‘Smart cities- challenges and opportunities’ at Hotel Fortune Murali Park here from May 5, Efftronics managing director D Ramakrishna has said.


Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Ramakrishna said that the two-day national symposium was aimed at creating awareness among government, industry and academia on various challenges and opportunities available in smart cities arena with latest technological trends like internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), big data, analytics and mobile applications. 


Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh is likely to participate in the inaugural session. Experts from IT and other departments will participate in the symposium and discuss various concepts on the first day which include smart transportation- future of urban mobility, aspects of safety, security and surveillance in smart city, smart grids-shaping the future of smart cities, smart buildings-green way of living and health and education-building healthy and skilled cities, he said.


On the second day, employment and opportunities in smart cities, connectivity-a move towards networked society, sanitation-clean and disease-free India, building sustainable urban environment, platform-fabric of converged technologies, building new energy society and road maps for future, he added.


Experts from Oracle, Intel, Cisco, iVIS, Exa Intelligence (Japan), Videonetics etc., are going to present their papers and deliver keynote address. In addition to the above, about 250 participants from industry, State government and academia are also going to participate in the two-day symposium.
