While the wait to drive our very own small car Nano in automatic avatar is about to end, Tata Motors has come up with another good news that would certainly please the people waiting for the car to come out soon. Yes, Tata Nano GenX AMT will feature a creep function, which is going to be the first major uplift in Nano, as revealed by the automaker recently. The said creep function is generally available on all automatic cars but unfortunately India bound automatic cars like Alto K10, Celerio and Zest do not feature it.
Talking more about this first in class feature in Nano, basically all the automatic cars that lack creep function do not move inch forward, as soon as the foot is taken off the brake paddle. In fact, they need acceleration to move on but the incorporation of creep function in this car will make the drive very easy in bumper-to-bumper traffic conditions, as the driver would only have to handle the brake pedal.
Coming to the 2015 Tata Nano GenX, the car will be packed with all the needed upgradations to offer itself in a fresh and energetic embodiment. Already carrying the cheapest car tag, the Nano is soon to add one more feather in its cap as this is going to be the most affordable automatic car in India. Well, the small car with AMT is gearing up for its launch and same is pretty clear from the spied shots of the vehicle waiting for dispatch from the Tata’s Sanand plant. The GenX Nano will also sport a first on Nano-functional boot-lid. In addition to power steering, these upmarket features in Nano would make the small car big in terms of tech updates.
On the external front, the car would feature a fresh front and rear redesigned bumpers, honeycomb grille along with black plated headlight cluster. This will make the small car look very beautiful. The people will also get to see new alloy wheels, customization and fresh color options in Nano GenX.
Inside the car too, there are some updates available on all new Tata Nano GenX. The vehicle will get a Zest-like 3-spoke steering wheel, a new dashboard and improved seat upholstery and door inserts. In addition to this, a larger 24 litre fuel tank can also be seen in Nano, which is same as displayed in Nano F- Tronic concept at 2014 Auto Expo.
In terms of engine specs, 2015 Nano GenX will continue to be powered by the 624 cc MPFI naturally aspirated petrol engine. The small engine can belt out 37.5 bhp power and peak torque of 51Nm. Mated to the 4-speed manual gearbox, this 624cc engine currently offers a remarkable 25.35 kmpl, though with the addition of AMT, we expect a slight rise in the fuel efficiency. The AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) fitted in the Nano will be the same set of transmission that is doing its duty in Alto K10 and Maruti Celerio. This set of gearbox is being developed by Italian company Magnetti Marelli.
Nano as we all know was a dream project of Mr. Ratan Tata and with the introduction of this small car, people could shift themselves from two-wheels to four-wheels. Nano had a below average start in the country but timely makeovers have increased its value in the market. And now with the latest improvements under development, the small car will make itself far more pertinent and a superior package, however, only time will decide how this small car with big things inside would actually be treated in the market.
