BENGALURU: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday took over investigation into the murder case of RSS leader Rudresh. On October 16, Rudresh was hacked to death by some men on motorbikes near Commercial Street. A gang of four was later arrested.
Waseem Ahmed (30), a resident of Austin Town, Mohammed Mazar (35) of J C Nagar, Mohammed Mujibulla alias Moula (44) of R T Nagar, and Irfan Pasha (30) of Govindapura were arrested on October 27. The prime accused Waseem, who attacked Rudresh with a machete, was trained by a radical organisation, a police officer said during the time of their arrest. Waseem’s family told police he had often attended meetings called by the group, said the officer.
A senior officer of NIA said officials from the Hyderabad branch took up the case for further probe and there is no separate FIR. “We will continue the investigation from where Bengaluru City police had stopped. As there were similar cases reported in other states, we have decided to take the accused into custody to interrogate them,” said the officer.
During the interrogation by Commercial Street police, the arrested revealed they had travelled to Kerala and Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh to undergo training by an organisation.
They also visited training camps in an isolated place in Kerala, said the police.
