BENGALURU: Alliance University Bengaluru, the first private university in the state, has got one last chance to reply to the notice issued by the state Department of Higher Education and if they fail, the department will appoint an administrator.
The department has issued a final notice to the university as there was no reply to the first notice issued by them. This time, the department has given 10 days time for them to reply, or else action will be initiated.
Confirming this, a senior official of the Higher Education Department, said, “Recently, we issued a final notice to Alliance University. If they fail to respond within 10 days, we will an appoint administrator to the institution.”
According to official sources, the first notice was issued almost a month ago based on the report submitted by the Prof M I Savadatti inquiry commission on the allegations against Dr Madhukar B Angur the former Chancellor of the university.
Due to the dispute between the two brothers, Sudhir B Angur and Madhukar B Angur over ownership of the institute, the academic calendar of the university was completely disturbed. The exams were postponed, the college was closed suddenly for a week thrice in a year, new and ineligible
faculties replaced the old faculties, some anti-social elements too entered the campus and threatened students not to attend classes.
A few days back, the government also constituted an expert committee overnight and directed it to conduct a reality check by talking to students and parents, etc.
However, M S Mishra, registrar of Alliance University, said, “We have not received any communication or notice from the government. We sought government’s intervention to maintain peace at the campus. Everything should be done as per the court order and after eviction of unwanted people from campus.”
When Express tried to contact Sudhir B Angur, the present chancellor of the university, he did
not respond.
