BANGALORE: Irfaan Razzak, chairman of the Prestige Shantinikethan, was arrested on Tuesday morning, following the death of two workers when the under- construction building’s car-parking complex collapsed on Monday evening.

All the accused in the case were produced before a city court and later were released on bail. Irfaan Razzak has been arrested once before only recently. On Monday, eight persons, including Ashok Saproo, vice president, The Prestige Group, Muralidhar Rao, General Manager and Project in-charge, Prestige Group; Ravi Hoskote, Vice Presidaent, IJM Group; Nanda Kishore, General Manager and Project Incharge, IJM and others were arrested.

Labour Minister B N Bachchegowda and an expert team from the Bangalore University visited the spot on Tuesday. An experts’ team will examine the site and will give a report, Soumendu Mukharjee, DCP (South-East) said.

Workers and some employees’ associations staged a protest when the minister visited the place and demanded that safety measures be provided to the workers.
