60 years down the lane, and Sophia High School standing the test of time continues to live by its motto ‘truth and universal love’, and here they stand celebrating its golden jubilee.

Tiny toddlers from the primary section dressed in blue, white, pink, green, red and black as angels and demons as sun, as moon, as fairies and depicting different creations of nature in a very creative way tried to spread the message of ecological awareness to the august gathering.

Paying her tribute to her alma-mater, Ruhi, a 2007 ICSE batch of Sophia, enthralled the auditorium with her loving voice bringing down some into tears.

Speaking at the celebration of 60 years of existence of Sophia High School, Rohini Nilekani, former chairperson of Akshara Foundation, and Chairperson, Pratham Books said “At this time when our life seems to be uncertain, where terror seems to be gulping all our peace of mind, building an institution with mission and ethics, spreading the message of peace and love is the need of the hour”.

“A person cannot live on his own, yes there are negative aspects but one should not be self illusionary, but try to get out and look for the brighter and prospective aspect” she added.

Pouring out her nostalgia, a proud Sophite, Gita Narayanan, Founder Director of Mallya Aditi Institution, and Srishti School of Art of Design, who was present as the Guest of Honour, said, “What one needs to remember is to built a curriculum of optimism. We need to go slow if we need to built our future. The education system should move at a slower pace so that one really gets to enjoy it. It should not be like a fast food juncture”.

Wide applauds resounded after the students of standard two to four in a very appreciative presented a play spreading the message of Christmas and Christ’s love for humanity.

About 10 teaching and non-teaching staffs who have completed 25 years of their service to the school were also felicitated during the function.

The celebration was a moment of nostalgia for some, while for others it was a time for fanfare and jubilation..
