BANGALORE: Kannada film producer Chandulal Jain died at his residence on Thursday after prolonged illness. Jain was 75 and is survived by wife Leela, two daughters and two sons.

Jain, who produced successful films, including the award-winning Hindi movie Godhuli in which Naseeruddin Shah played the lead role, had not been well for the last few years and had undergone several surgeries.

Before becoming a producer, Jain was a cloth merchant in Davanagere.

He started his career in the movie industry by producing the Rajkumar-starrer Thaayi Devaru.

Jain has made 34 films, several of which have won awards. One film,Gangavva Gangamayi, in which Ananth Nag played the lead role, is yet to be released.
