BANGALORE: There is a lot in a name. The word CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) reads well. The seat of crime detection is only a respected name.

And the road that is named after it sounds only good to the ears. CBI Road that stretches between Bellary Road and RT Nagar Main Road is one of those places that can be called the seat of good action — for it houses the state CBI headquarters.

With residential complexes gracing one side, the road has other landmarks as well.TEC-MEP Training Institute, Manasa Hospital, MK Ahmed  shopping centre, Cake Paradise (for the ones with the sweet tooth) and Bangalore School  of Music (for those musically inclined) are scattered around the busy road.

But the reason why the road got its name is because of the magnificent building that has stood its ground for over two decades — the CBI office — a beehive of activity.

And as dusk slowly descends on the residents of the area, they know that there is a place they can hopefully look to.
