BANGALORE: As part of the Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival 2010, ‘Our Folk Our Classical Our Art!’, an initiative with an amalgamation of Indian folk and classical styles, was organised at Cubbon Park on Saturday.
As many as 20 art students from the city colleges came on a common platform to create a 60-feet-long piece of art on the occasion.
Ranga Shankara organised this event in association with city’s premier art and design schools, such as Chitra Kala Parishath, Wigan and Leigh College and Kenschool of Art. The art work will be exhibited at Ranga Shankara even after the festival is over.
Diane from Iran and a student of the Chitra Kala Parishath said that it was a wonderful experience working with students of other colleges for a creative and unique cause. Apart from the artists, there were musicians playing the guitar and singing songs and the crowd joined to make it a community event. The programme also saw the mascots of the festival --- people wearing huge masks designed on the theme of the Navarasas - walking around the park and talking to children and families about theatre.
It was a memorable day with artists, musicians and theatre persons working towards spreading the message of ‘Theatre Alive’.
