BANGALORE: The Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (CDRF) directed Kingfisher Airlines Limited to pay a compensation of Rs10,000 to each of two complainants for ferrying them from Delhi to Leh in low cost Deccan Airways flight though they booked tickets for Kingfisher flight.
B L Phaneendra Kumar and D K Suma booked air tickets in Kingfisher Airlines Limited by paying `6,900 towards the fare in March 2008. Upon reaching, Delhi the complainants were told that Kingfisher does not operate any flights to Leh and were asked to board Deccan Airways flight and were given the boarding passes for the flight. After returning to Bangalore, the complainants sent a legal notice to Kingfisher and the company replied to the notice. However, the complainants delayed filing complaint due to various reasons and eventually approached the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum after two years of booking the tickets.
Kingfisher Airlines contended that the complainants had not booked any tickets with them. However, upon verifying email correspondences and statements of the ticket booking agent, it was established that the complainants had booked tickets for a Kingfisher flight.
Hence, the IV Additional Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum headed by its president D Krishnappa directed the airlines to pay the compensation.
