BANGALORE:  The Railways have revised the Tatkal scheme for reservation with effect from November 21.

The advance reservation period  would be reduced from two days at present to one day excluding the day of journey, from the train originating station. There will be no refund on cancellation on confirmed Tatkal tickets other than in exceptional cases. In case of cancellation of partially confirmed Tatkal tickets, refund will be given only for passengers under waiting list. Agents are restricted from booking Tatkal tickets on the Internet from 8 am to 10 am.  The web service agents of IRCTC will be permitted to book only one Tatkal ticket per train per day on the Internet.

Duplicate Tatkal tickets will be issued only in exceptional cases on collection of full fare including Tatkal charges by operators to whom the privileges would be assigned by the Railways. However, no refund will be given for duplicate Tatkal tickets even if original ticket is found. It will be possible to book a maximum of only four passengers per PNR for Tatkal tickets.

Passengers can book Tatkal tickets only on production of one of the eight prescribed proofs of identity.

A self-attested photo copy of the proof of identity of any one passenger shall be attached to the requisition slip. It will not be mandatory for the passenger(s) to go to the counter to book the Tatkal tickets. However, the identity proof will have to be sent. Even for internet booking of Tatkal tickets, the passenger has to enter the identity proof type which is to be produced during travel.
