Express News Service

The Lokayukta police filed a ‘B’ report in a case against Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) R P Sharma.

Based on the complaint filed by a realtor S M Alex, the Lokayukta Special Court had issued investigation orders to the Lokayukta police in September.

Accordingly, an FIR against Sharma for allegedly providing false information while declaring his assets and liabilities.

Meanwhile, with a complete investigation, they found there was no sufficient evidence to prove the allegations.

According to the Lokayukta police, the complaint is treated is ‘null and void’. Police sources said there seems to be a political motive behind the complaint.

It was noted that Alex and his wife, promoters of Golden Orchard, a gated layout near Dodda Gubbi, had approached the High Court earlier this year in the same case.

This apart, they had also complained Sharma of harassing them by booking a false case in the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force  police station against them.

Alex had alleged that Sharma misused his powers in purchasing a BDA site for a price less than the government-prescribed guidance value.

In 2010, when Sharma was the IGP (Planning), acquired over 10,200 sq ft of land under the BDA jurisdiction at Dodda Gubbi village on the outskirts of the city near Hennur by paying `17 lakh.

However, the guidance value for the property was said to be around `25 lakh, according to Alex’s statement.

He had further alleged that Sharma neither mentioned the survey number nor the exact location of the site, mainly to avoid stamp duty, while declaring this property before the designated authority.

The case was posted to December 31 for further hearing.
