When Sri Lankan students said 'Ayubowan'

“AYUBOWAN” (Namsathe) Sri Lankan Day fest was celebrated with great grandeur in the Acharya Institutes of Graduates Studies (AIGS) premises at Soladevanahalli, Bangalore. They welcomed the  guests in a traditional way by giving a beetle leaf.

Sri Lankan Day was organised by a group of 120 students in the AIGS introducing their culture, elegance of the country, nature, food, habitat, tradition and culinary habits, among others. Stalls and a poster exhibition was put up to showcase their nation’s geography, wildlife, the political system, tourism, art, tradition, industries and ancient medicines. They also screened a short documentary of current developments in the island. This is the third edition of Sri Lankan Students organising a National Day at AIGS. All the Sri Lakan students were dressed in their traditional attire and performed the song and traditional dance called Candian dance.

“This is a great opportunity for all the Sri Lankan students to showcase our culture and our tradition and spread the message of oneness, “ said a Sri Lankan student Tarind, a Commerce student. Vijay Shankar, a MS Communication student said,“ It  is great to see that all Sri Lankan students are in their traditional attire and I am happy to see the dance, poster exhibition, the friendly environment which makes Sri Lanka a country one should visit atleast once in a lifetime.”

Speaking on the occasion, Shalini Reddy, Director, Acharya Institutes, said, “Sri Lanka is a country known for its elegance and all students should visit the country once in their lives.

She also congratulated all the students who were part of this programe along with Principal, AIGS, Prof. Gurunath Rao Vaidya and Director, Placements, CBM Bhooshan, who were present. The programme concluded with the Sri Lankan and Indian national anthem and finally the traditional cuisine was served to everyone present.
