St Mary’s Anglo Indian HSS holds 174th sports meet

The annual sports meet of St Mary’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School held on Thursday at St Bede’s ground gave ample opportunity to the students to showcase their skills in the arena of sports.

The opening prayer song was sung by the school choir. Principal Rev Father Gregory Devarajan welcomed the gathering. Rector and Correspondent Rev Father Xavier Packiam felicitated the chief guest guests Lakshmi IPS, Dy Commissioner of Police, Mylapore, Daniel, Under Secretary to Government, Labour and Employment Dept Secretariat and Dr Megala Daniel, Professor of Physics Dept, Quaid-E-Millath College. The Principal delivered the welcome address in which he encouraged the students to shine and bring out their talents.

Lakshmi declared the sports meet open and took the salute. The march past was led by the school pupil leader Suman M Mathew of Class 12 A bearing the school flag. The school placard was held by assistant school pupil leader Allen O Sebastian of 12 B. This was followed by the lighting of the torch by the athletic champions of the school. The athletics events were conducted and trophies, medals and certificates were distributed to the winners by Daniel and Megala Daniel.

The students of Class 7 performed the mass drill with their colourful dusters. The house which emerged the winners and won the overall championship was the Gaberial House. Suman Mathew proposed the vote of thanks.
