The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday questioned three people, who have been accused of involvement in Soujanya murder case of 2012.
Dheeraj Jain, Malik Jain and Udaya Jain are relatives of Veerendra Heggade, dharmadhikari of the Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala. Soujanya’s family had been demanding that the trio be investigated.
The trio were summoned to the CID office at 11 am, but appeared only at noon. They were questioned till the late evening about their whereabouts on the day when Soujanya was raped and murdered. The police also asked them to submit their call records in order to verify their statements.
Sources added the CID could also summon three other people in connection with the case.
CID ADGP Bipin Gopal Krishna confirmed that three persons were summoned and their statements were recorded.
Soujanya, a 17-year-old student, had been found raped and murdered at Pangala near Dharmasthala last October.
Spl Teams to Probe Jain Temple Heist
The city police formed two special teams to investigate the robbery of valuables worth nearly `25 lakh, including jewellery, from the Sri Vasupoojya Swami Temple on Akkipet Main Road in the wee hours of Sunday.
The teams are headed by inspectors from Byatarayapura and Cottonpet police stations.
Meanwhile, sources said the police are planning to question the temple’s guards after they are discharged from hospital. Senior police officers visited the temple on Sunday.
