State film awards announced, Puneeth, Ramya bag top honours

Puneeth Rajkumar has been named best actor (male) for Jackie and Mandya Lok Sabha member Ramya best actor (female) for Sanju Weds Geetha in the revised Karnataka State Film Awards for 2010-11.

Information and Infrastructure Minister Santosh Lad told reporters on Friday that senior actor S Shivaram has been selected for the Dr Rajkumar Award.

The Puttanna Kanagal Award has been given to director Bhargava, while Housing Minister and senior actor M H Ambareesh has been conferred the Dr Vishnuvardhan Lifetime Achievement Award.

All three awards include a cash award of Rs 2 lakh and gold plated memento. The best actor awards carry a cash prize of Rs 20,000 each, silver medals weighing 100 grams and a memento.

The state government had reconstituted the selection panel following complaints by actress Priya Hassan and producer Basant Kumar Patil about irregularities in the selection of awards for 2010-11.
