Environment Festival Inaugurated

BANGALORE: The Vagdevi Environment Festival, jointly organised by Vagdevi Vilas Institution and the Indian Institute of Science, was inaugurated on Thursday. A biogas plant and a paper recycling machine were inaugurated at Vagdevi School premises on the occasion.

Dr Vaman Acharya, chairman of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, who inaugurated the facilities, lauded the school authorities and students for the initiative and advised the children to inculcate the process of recycling in their daily lives.

Institution president K Harish said a 100 kV solar plant and a 2 kV wind energy plant will be set up on the school premises shortly. Scientists Haldodderi Sudhindra, Dr T V Ramachandra, Harish Bhat and others were present.

Science Festival

The Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium is organising its annual three-day science festival, ‘Science in Action’ from Friday. Registration is free and will be on first-come-first-served basis. Entry will cost `20 for students and `35 for adults. Films on the solar system will be shown.
