Yashas Wins Gold, Velammal Bags Overall karate and kobudo Championship

Nine-year-old Yashas Jain of Velammal Vidhyashram, Surapet, won the gold medal in the brown belt junior category.

CHENNAI: Nine-year-old Yashas Jain of Velammal Vidhyashram, Surapet, won the gold medal in the brown belt junior category in the 13th National Okinawan Karate and Kobudo Tournament. 

Velammal Vidhyashram bagged the overall championship. Around 400 participants from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh took part in the event held on Velammal premises on November 29 and 30. A S Krishnamurthy, secretary of the South Asian Kobudo Association, distributed prizes to the winners.
