5-year-old Electrocuted at Apartment Block in Bengaluru

Express News Service

BENGALURU: A five-year-old boy was electrocuted at an apartment block at Hulimavu near JP Nagar on Saturday evening.

Police said the boy, Shreshth Bhalla, was playing with his friends at the lawn of Ajmera Green Arcade Apartments when the incident took place.

His parents — Ajith Kumar, a software engineer, and Preethi Vashist — are natives of Uttar Pradesh.

The police suspect that an open electric wire used for lighting at the lawn could have caused the mishap. Shreshth accidentally ran on the wire and died on the spot, they said.

As the boy’s parents were not home when the incident occurred, the children playing with the boy informed his grandfather about the incident. However, he was unable to respond to the situation and Meera, a maid at the house, took the boy to the nearest hospital where he was declared brought dead.

An autopsy was conducted on Sunday and doctors confirmed the death was caused by electrocution.
