Ashram Death: Mother for Second Autopsy

Express News Service

BENGALURU: Jhansi Raani, mother of Sangeetha Arjunan (Ma Nithya Turiyateetananda) who allegedly died of cardiac arrest at Bidadi Nityananda Ashram on December 28, has approached the Ramanagaram SP and accused that the ashram staff are responsible for her daughter’s death.

At a press conference on Sunday, Raani demanded a second autopsy and proper investigation of the case. “The autopsy report stated that Sangeetha died due to cardiac arrest. But I noticed blood marks on her nose and mouth. Her body was also black,” she said.

“She was being harassed by Nityananda and his assistants for the last few years. She was working as an in-charge of the computer section in the ashram. Hamsananda, one of the assistants of Nityananda, had assaulted Sangeetha earlier after alleging that she had left the ashram after stealing a laptop and memory cards. She was forced to return to the ashram and in 2013,  Ranjitha had assaulted her over an issue. Then, she was transferred to Tiruchi and we were not allowed to meet her for six months. On December 28, they called us and informed that she passed away due to cardiac arrest,” said Raani.

“I have also informed the Humans Rights Commission and the state women’s rights commission about the incident and requested them to look into the matter. The case should be handed over to the CBI,” she added.
