Spices are no mystery for those who love cooking, but spices of high quality are something everyone looks for. Here is a pick of some handpicked spices from around the world that are bound to add zing to your global food experiments

Juniper berries 100 gms (Rs. 500)

Juniper berries are the fruit of a cypress tree and have a sharp, fresh scent reminiscent of pine. They are dried in a special manner to preserve the essential oils, and used in northern European cooking to flavour game dishes or cabbage.

Pink Pepper 100 gms (Rs. 800)

Pink pepper comes from the Camargue pepper and is commonly known as Peruvian or false pepper, since it is not actually part of the pepper family. They have a sweeter flavour, and can be mixed with other kinds of ‘true’ peppers to make a colourful addition to a dish. 

Liqurice Roots 100 gms (Rs. 600)

Liquorice is a chewy, dark-brown or black sweet flavoured with liquorice root extract. The candy is made by mixing the liquorice root extract with sugar, water, gelatine and flour. The roots are used in much the same manner for baking and making other exotic desserts.

Pink salt 100 gms (Rs. 90)

Himalayan pink salt is a pure, hand-mined salt that is derived from ancient sea salt deposits. It is believed to be the purest form of salt available and its high mineral and iron content changes the crystals from varying shades of pink to deep reds. Pink salt may be used in the same manner as table salt.   

Sumac 100 gms (Rs. 160)

The sumac bush, native to the Middle East, produces deep red berries, which are dried and ground into coarse powder. Ground sumac is a versatile spice with a tangy lemony flavor, although more balanced and less tart than lemon juice and is used in a range of Mediterranean dishes .
